Sheffield Wednesday 1 Leeds United 6 Part 1
Best save he made was against Bobby Charlton at old Trafford.
For every terrible error, he made 4 or 5 magnificent saves. Sadly, his errors often came in crucial games. But he was an excellent keeper on his day.
i always hated jack charlton as i thought he blamed sprake for errors that were actually caused by his own shit positioning ,he was a bully basically
great player,terrible manager
JFK and Wimbledon were a match made in Heaven.
My dad is a lifelong Chelsea fan and Georgie Best is his favourite player of all time.
Who came here from that arsenal video of guess the gooner and is here because of that guy that said this was his first match
TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP PLAYER
I saw Gary make some outstanding saves for Leeds United and Wales. I rated him very highly.
First game I ever went to!
Mick was the best number 9 for several years, his combination with Sniffer was unstoppable. Talented, fearless and grafters both of them. From a WHU fan.
Beautiful player. It's not just about what you do, but how you move. The greatest players (in no particular order) Pele, Best, Cruyff, Maradona, Beckenbauer, Messi, move differently. Like great musicians, even with the sound turned down, show poetry in their individual technique. Also, the above named players never really fitted into any system, though they excelled in teams. They all had animal-like capacity to explode into electrifying action - watch Best running cross field from left to right, hair shimmering, to whip a right foot shot in off the opposite post, Cruyff tearing down the wing & also for his wonder goal volley flying through the air, Pele from mid half bounding through opposition, Messi weaving slalom magic cutting infield from deep, Maradona poised to beat half a dozen terrified looking Flemish, & Beckenbauer ghosting from his own to opponents penalty box ... Real art. Messi was well behaved, but I'd like to see micro managing Gladioli wilt in the presence of particularly Best, Maradona & Cruyff. On a different level, like Ali & Jordan ... Wonderful
I was at this game.
Im lookin for
My great uncle is gary sprake my he rip
Says the man who sold cantona to man utd for 1 million
Terry Butcher a dreadful manager
As a city fan. George was a true genius and if your a fan of football fan he was probably the reason why. Even us bitter old blues recognise brilliance. Nice one george❤️💙
Probably the most naturally gifted English midfielder. Shame the troubles he had meant he never lived up to his talents. But we all loved Gazza flaws and all. Wish the media stopped hounding him at the time.
A great save from Vic Hallom i thought .
Victor Martindale even better 👌
He was a dumpling!
oh he made a dumpling of errors in that chelsea fa cup..it was almost slow motion, a slow motion belly flop of a goal .i reckon if theyd have got banksy or shilton they may have won more trophies
"The scene is so typically Scottish"
Maradona good, Pele great, George Best!
Best Leeds United keeper of all time. MOT
Everton pretty much exist just to give easy derby wins to Liverpool. It used to always upset me, being a blue, but now that they are waving their rainbow flags, I can no longer support them.
He played for Leeds for ten years so he must have been a good goalkeeper.
😅😂😂🤣🤣🤣
Howard Wilkinson wrong in saying all his mistakes were caught in camera. In 1968 at Anfield, in attempting to throw the ball out, he actually threw it into the back of his own net instead. To the merriment of The Kop, who began singing 'Careless Hands'
Yes John we know .
The law os unintended consquences

😂😂
Love the save he did against Francis Lee. MOT Norge
Any more highlights on this game?
I want to twiddle the tracking button
Dodgy 'keeper.
Very very
Go on Norman 😁
People have selective memories when it comes to goalkeepers. Some (like Gary Sprake) are remembered forever for their mistakes, while others are remembered as "great", with their errors being overlooked. Some people have commented that Leeds should have signed Peter Shilton and if they had, they would have won more trophies. Maybe, or maybe not. For example, in the 1986 World Cup quarter final, the 'great' Peter Shilton was outjumped by a 5 foot high Argentinian and England were knocked out. Four years later in the semi-final against West Germany, he made another huge error when conceded from a deflected free-kick and England had to chase the game after that and went out on penalties. In his entire career, Shilton hardly saved any penalties (even at club level). Yet people remember him as a "great goalkeeper". One howler that I remember our whole family laughing at was when he was at Southampton. I think they were playing against West Ham. Shilton came out of his goal and took the ball round a West Ham player. The crowd cheered, so he tried to beat another man, but was tackled, leaving the West Ham forward with an empty net to chip the ball into and Shilton looking quite embarrassed.🤣 Almost as embarrassed as that night when he was caught in his car (by an angry husband) with his pants round his ankles with the bloke's wife, so Shilton drove off in a hurry and crashed his car!
Agree. Shilton was a liability. And hopeless at saving penalties. In an era when there were so many good English 'keepers.
@@johnholmes8178 Saved just 3 penalties out of 54 faced.
You can’t count the Maradona goal against Shilton - you know why.. Shilton and Clemence were the top 2 English keepers at that time..
I remember watching that in my digs in college. How in God's name did it go ahead.
From what I've seen, there were many more televised errors from this guy. And probably plenty not televised. People have to be realistic. He wasn't good enough for that Leeds team and if they'd had a really top 'keeper like Clemence, Shilton or Banks (all around during that era), they'd have won even more than they did.
Absolutely right .
George Best You are a Fantastic Football player You are the Best George Best Good bye the Belfast boy World legend Maradona Cruyff Pele George Best is the Best
what killed George was the united drinking culture Alex Ferguson said when he first moved to united he said all the players was piss heads and he pretty much sold most of the team it was ether is rules or you out . George was 17 very shy and drink was his crutch. And it was all because of united drinking culture at the time
, Aston Villa campione d'Europa 1982
Gazza had not even quite made it to only 24 years old at the Cup Final in 91. Such a shame that England's best ever player and one of the greatest players in the World of all time had an injury like that. Gazza deserved a World Cup Winners Medal. ❤
Glenn hoddle on the same level too maybe even better
@@richardevans7035 Nah, Glenn Hoddle never really cut it as an England player - maybe because Ron Greenwood played him out of position, but for whatever reason - Hoddle didn't really cut it at International level, Gazza did, therefore better.
Chelsea ran at pittodrie!!!
In your dreams sheep shagger 🤣
Georg sei il meglio
miss this Sky Panel & Rodney Marsh/Frank McLintock
This was the game, i got my head kicked in by ccfc fans, ex hioligan , i hold no grudges
"Hopefully the transfer to Lazio will go through and hopefully I will still be playing for Spurs! haha!! Ffsake, Gazza!
Leeds had a police sanction for a limited away allocation imposed on the club , but by the time this fixture the sanction was lifted by the police but the club decided to carry it on , but United wanted their 15% allocation , but Leeds wanted use this has an advantage, so united reduced their allocation for the old Trafford game to return the favour
Mighty Leeds United 💙💛
